A filly by Battalion Runner worked a bullet quarter mile in :20.60 Sunday at OBS Training Center during the first day of under tack shows previewing the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in training. Consigned by Ortega Stables LLC, the filly was one of two juveniles to clock the fast time along with a Mendelssohn colt.

Cataloged as Hip 163, the filly is out of Blame mare Miss Monk, a half-sister to Grade 1 Wood Memorial and Grade 2 Jim Dandy-winner Wicked Strong. She is fully registered for the FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes and was bred in Florida by the late Sherry R. Mansfield and Kenneth H. Davis.

 

The Mendelssohn colt who also clocked a :20.60 quarter mile is consigned by Hoppel LLC as agent. Cataloged as Hip 123, he is out of the Archarcharch mare Marvelous Spot, a half-sister to stakes-placed Seattle Glory; stakes-placed, stakes-producer Combanchera; Grade 1-producer Sambuca Classica, Grade 2-producer Glorious Sky and stakes-producer Forever Sunshine.

There were three eighth-mile works in :9.80, the first of which was Hip 70, a colt by Shancelot out of Loteria, a full-sister to stakes-placed Snead. The colt’s second dam, Raffle Ticket, by A.P. Indy, is a full sister to the late leading sire Bernardini. The dark bay or brown colt is consigned by Top Line Sales LLC as agent.

Hip 75 also worked a bullet eighth for consignor Grassroots Training and Sales LLC as agent. The dark bay or brown filly is by Upstart out of Lovely Marissa, by Proud Citizen, a half-sister to Grade 3-placed, stakes-winner Nasty.

Hip 134 is a colt consigned by AVP Training and Sales as agent by first crop sire By My Standards. He is out of Mememto, by Nyquist and is from the family of Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1)-winner Skywalker.

There were 26 juveniles who worked an eighth mile in :10 flat including two Florida-breds.

Hip 15, a dark bay or brown filly by Win Win Win out of the winning Smart Strike mare Kiteta consigned by Shooting Star Sales LLC. Kiteta is a granddaughter of multiple graded stakes-producer Cosmic Fire. The filly is fully registered for the FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes and was bred in Florida by the late Brereton C. Jones.

 

Hip 95, a dark bay or brown colt by Independence Hall out of the winning Street Boss mare Madre Ditutticapi consigned by JP Training & Sales. The colt was bred in Florida by Norman Dellheim & Katie Liebe.

Hip 96, a gray or roan filly by Tapit out of the stakes-winning No Nay Never mare Mae Never No (Ire) consigned by de Meric Sales. The filly was bred in Florida by Bridlewood Farm.
