OCALA, FL—The first of seven under tack sessions previewing the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in training begins Sunday at the Ocala Training Center with Hips 1 – 173 set to begin breezing at 8:00 a.m. EST. Admission is free and open to the public.

The OBS Spring Sale will be conducted next week from Tuesday, April 15 through Friday, April 18 with more than 1,200 juvenile Thoroughbreds cataloged for the prestigious auction. 

Last year the OBS Spring Sale sold 637 2-year-olds for an average of $129,315 while grossing $82,373,500. The top seller was a filly by Tiz the Law that sold for $1.9 million to bloodstock agent Donato Lanni, representing Michael Lund Peterson. The filly was consigned by Tom McCrocklin as agent.

The breeze show resumes Monday with Hips 174 – 346, Hips 347-519 are set to work Tuesday, 520-691 will go Wednesday, Thursday has Hips 692-863 scheduled and Friday breezes include Hips 864-1035. The final under tack session is Saturday with Hips 1036 – 1207.

The OBS officials also offers sellers the option of marketing their 2-year-olds as “gallop only.” The gallop only designation will be noted on the catalog page.

The auction starts each day at 10:30 a.m. with Hips 1-302 scheduled to pass through the auction ring on Tuesday, Wednesday will have Hips 303 – 604, Hips 605 – 906 sell Thursday and the sale concludes Friday with Hips 907 – 1207.
